Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Cusco, between 6:15 and 6:40 a.m., to start the scenic journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

The first stop is the charming village of Chinchero, renowned for its traditional textile workshops where local women demonstrate ancient weaving techniques using natural dyes. From there, you’ll continue to Moray, a fascinating site of circular agricultural terraces believed to have been an Inca laboratory for crop experimentation.

Next, you’ll head to the Salt Mines of Maras, a surreal landscape of over 3,000 salt pools that have been used since pre-Inca times for salt extraction. Afterward, you’ll enjoy a delicious buffet lunch in Urubamba, a pleasant town nestled in the valley.

Wake up early, as around 3:00 a.m., one of our team members will accompany you to the Ministry of Culture office to secure your official Machu Picchu entrance ticket for the next day. Due to limited availability, this step ensures access to the site during high season.

The rest of the day is entirely yours. You can stroll through the peaceful streets of Aguas Calientes, visit the local artisan market, or soak in the nearby thermal baths to unwind. This day is perfect for resting, acclimatizing, and recharging for tomorrow’s highlight.

Visit to Machu Picchu + Return to Cusco

Depending on the entrance time secured the day before, your guide will meet you at your hotel and accompany you to the bus station. A 25-minute bus ride will take you up the winding mountain road to the mystical citadel of Machu Picchu.

Once inside, you’ll enjoy a guided tour of approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, visiting the most iconic sectors: temples, agricultural terraces, plazas, and viewpoints. Your guide will bring the ancient city to life with stories of Inca engineering, spiritual significance, and daily life in this hidden sanctuary.

After the visit, return by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have some free time before catching the afternoon train back to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival, a private vehicle will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco, marking the end of an unforgettable journey.

From 2025, Machu Picchu has 5 official circuits, each offering different routes and access points:

  • Circuit 1 – Panoramic Route: only allows access to the upper part of Machu Picchu, reaching the Guardian’s House. From there, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Inca city from a distance. However, this circuit does not allow entry to the temples or internal exploration of Machu Picchu.
