CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK 4 Days

PRICE FROM
USD $377

The Choquequirao Route is magnificent and infrequently visited by tourists. In other words, it is poorly known, rarely visited, and infrequently investigated. Choquequirao is thought to be the famous final hamlet occupied by the Incas when the Spanish invaded Peru. You’ll be startled by the sheer size of the site, which is substantially larger than Machu Picchu. It was one of the final refuges for Incas who resisted Spanish rule following the conquest.  The site was subsequently abandoned and overgrown with deep cloud forest flora, and archaeologists are still discovering new areas of the city today.

During this incredible adventure, you’ll travel ancient paths used by the Incas hundreds of years ago, climb high Andean peaks, marvel at the majestic beauty of glaciers, descend through deep canyons where massive condors fly, and cross through completely different ecosystems in this fantastically biodiverse country.

When you’re filled and reenergized, we’ll continue for another hour and fifteen minutes to the valley’s bottom. The gushing Apurimac River, also known as “Speaking God” in Quechua, awaits you here. The creek features class V rapids, making it ideal for canoeing and rafting.

Day

Then, at 5:30 a.m., you will depart and zigzag your way up for three hours to “Marampata” (2,900 m/).There, you’ll be delighted by the breathtaking environment and have the opportunity to photograph the canyon and snow-capped peaks. After a quick break to arrange your kit, you will trek for an additional hour and thirty minutes to the Choquequirao complex (3,050 m).

On this day, you will be able to immerse yourself in the surroundings and feel the aura of this ancient location. You will take your time and explore every aspect of the complex hidden within the deep canyon. You’ve undoubtedly already imagined the stunning view that awaiting you. Your guide will lead you around the site, telling you about the history and other fascinating anecdotes.

Choquequirao is substantially larger than Machu Picchu, but experts think that just 40% of it has been explored, so there will certainly be much more to study in the future. You will see plazas, temples, and stunning terraces. All of this will leave you wondering how the ancient civilization accomplished such a feat on top of the mountains.

Don’t miss some of the complex’s most essential features, such as the white stone llamas designed to guard the crucial mountain that overlooks the area known as Apu Qoriwayrachina. Choquequirao remains a mystery in many respects, and you may expect to discover more in the coming years. At midday, you will pause at this wonderful location to eat lunch.

In the afternoon, you will return to your tent in Marampata for another delicious meal and a good night’s relaxation. Once the sun has gone, the night sky will be filled with stars and constellations. Consider their significance before going to bed.

After a great lunch and a little stop, you will continue your descent until you reach Rosalinas Beach (1,500 m), where you will cool your feet in the chilly waters of the Apurimac River before beginning your climb.

You will continue your return trek, but this time you will climb for about an hour and fifteen minutes until you reach the warm Chiquisca (1,900 m), where you will spend the night and eat a delicious dinner while telling your trekking companions about all the exciting things you saw today.
