Lares trek and Short Inca Trail 5 Days Itinerary

We’ll depart from Cusco at 06:00 am for your Lares Trek and Short Inca Trail adventure. After a 2-hour drive to the Calca valley, we’ll enjoy breakfast, then continue our journey in a private van, ascending to the highest point on this road, which stands at 4275 meters (13,891 feet). From this vantage point, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains. After soaking in the magnificent scenery, we’ll drive to the Lares hot spring, where we’ll rendezvous with our horseman and indulge in a satisfying lunch before embarking on the trek. While our skilled chef prepares our delectable meal, you have the option to take a relaxing dip in the hot spring.

Next, we’ll hike to Kiswarani waterfall, where our dedicated team will establish our initial campsite at an elevation of 3600 meters (11,811 feet). During this first leg of the trek, we’ll cover approximately 7 kilometers (3.72 miles). Along the way, you’ll have the chance to

After savoring a delightful breakfast, our journey commences at 06:30 a.m. We ascend towards the Condor Pass, reaching an elevation of 4200 meters (13,779 feet), the pinnacle of our hike. Here, we are greeted by unparalleled landscapes and the awe-inspiring glacier. As we reach the summit of Condor Pass, you’ll be treated to the sight of wallatas (Andean geese) gracefully gliding in the crystal-clear blue waters. At this juncture, our guide will offer you a well-deserved cup of coca tea, allowing you to take a moment to rejuvenate. Meanwhile, your guide will perform a spiritual ceremony, paying homage to the sacred mountains of Sawasiray.

Following this, we descend to the lakeside area, where we’ll savor our delectable lunch amidst the company of Andean ducks and queullas, surrounded by the scenic beauty of these pristine lakes.

The second day of our adventure unfolds with a spectacular trek through the Huaran mountain range, offering ample opportunities to spot a variety of Andean bird species, including Andean condors, hawks, and swallows. This leg of the journey covers a distance of 15 kilometers (9 miles).

Descending through the Cancha Cancha valley, our journey continues for approximately 3 hours. This charming town enjoys a pleasantly warm climate. During our descent, we’ll have the opportunity to admire corn and potato farms nourished by the crystalline waters flowing from the magnificent snow-capped peaks that command the valley. These peaks also serve as the source for the revered Urubamba River, known as Wilkamayu or the Sacred River. After a satisfying lunch, we’ll embark on a 20-minute bus ride to the historic Inca village of Ollantaytambo, where we’ll

Departing Ollantatambo at 06:00 am, we commence our Inca Trail adventure. Our journey begins with a train ride that takes us to kilometer 104, the starting point of our trek. This leg of the trek encompasses the most enchanting section of the Classic Inca Trail 4 Days. Along the way, we’ll explore captivating Inca sites, encounter diverse flora and fauna, and revel in the breathtaking vistas of the Andes.

We’ll cover 10 kilometers of the trail, commencing in the Sacred Valley and ascending along a paved Inca trail to reach the archaeological marvel of Winay Wayna. From there, our path leads us to Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate (Inti Punku). After our visit to Wiñay Wayna, we’ll enjoy a satisfying box lunch.

Following our meal, we’ll traverse through the verdant and lush cloud forest that blankets the mountain, providing glimpses of a wide array of plants, flowers, orchids, and avian species.

As the day’s trekking comes to a close, we’ll reach the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) in the afternoon, affording us our initial panoramic views of Machu Picchu gracefully perched on the mountain ridge below. The afternoon sunlight creates the perfect conditions for photography, and with fewer tourists on-site, it’s an ideal moment to capture stunning images of this remarkable archaeological wonder. After passing through the Sun Gate, we’ll continue hiking for approximately 45 minutes to reach Machu Picchu, from where we’ll board a bus to Aguas Calientes. Upon arriving, we’ll check into our hotel and enjoy a well-deserved dinner.

Day 5 holds the enchantment of Machu Picchu. We’ll rise early to catch the first bus to Machu Picchu, where we’ll witness the sunrise casting its glow over the ancient ruins.

Your guide will dedicate approximately 3 hours to elucidate the key facets of Machu Picchu. Following the guided tour, you’ll have the freedom to independently explore the ruins and, if you’ve secured the option, embark on the Huaynapicchu hike (note that this requires a separate entrance ticket priced at $65 per person).

As the day unfolds, we’ll return to Aguas Calientes, board a train bound for Ollantaytambo, and then transfer to a bus headed for Cusco. Once in Cusco, we’ll ensure your safe return to your hotel.
